About the Firm

The law firm of Murphy and Nelson, a professional limited liability company, has been engaged in the practice of law in Ypsilanti, Michigan, since 1977. Although the primary focus of its practice is in Washtenaw County, the firm also engages in the practice of law throughout Southeastern Michigan.

John J. Murphy and James B. Nelson created a firm whose members shared the interest and experience necessary to provide the highest level of integrity and service to its clients. In 2002, Mark W. Nelson joined the firm with a commitment to continue to provide the client with the expertise and regard clients have come to expect from Murphy and Nelson.

The firm provides its clients with a variety of legal services. The primary areas of concentration are in estate planning, probate, real estate, and business planning.

To ensure complete client representation, attorneys and staff meet regularly to review current client matters. The firm has the benefit of an experienced legal support staff and, when necessary, investigators or outside counsel are available. The staff works together to ensure the prompt, economical delivery of legal services to itsclients.

The firm maintains an in-house law library, including the most up to date on line resources, and supplements its research facilities with access to the University of Michigan law library and various other information researching services.

The firm is committed to the continuing legal education of all members of the legal staff. Lawyers and administrative/support staff regularly attend continuing legal education courses presented by the Institute of Continuing Legal Education and other national continuing legal education organizations.

Murphy and Nelson subscribes to the highest standard of legal ethics. The relationship between the client and the law firm requires complete trust and confidence. The client’s work is performed in complete confidence. We keep our clients informed as to the progress of their file on a regular basis. If questions arise, the client can contact our office for direct information either via telephone or e-mail.
